Hi! I am Giovanna Montenegro, PhD and am currently an Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at Binghamton University, part of the State Universities of New York system (SUNY). My research interests focus on Colonial Latin America, the Caribbean & Early Modern Europe (with a focus on the Germanophone realm). I am a fan of travel narratives and maps of the sixteen and seventeen centuries. I am interested in how colonial legacies impact indigenous and maroon peoples today especially in their environmental stewardship.
Soy Giovanna Montenegro, PhD, y trabajo como profesora de literatura comparada en Binghamton University, parte del sistema estatal de universidades públicas del estado de Nueva York (SUNY). Mis intereses de investigación se enfocan más que todo sobre Latinoamerica colonial en el siglo XVI. Me encanta leer relaciones de viajes y analizar mapas de los siglos XVI y XVII. Estoy interesada en como el colonialismo sigue impactando a pueblos indígenas y tribales- especialmente en la protección de su medioambiente.
Ich bin Frau Dr. Giovanna Montenegro und arbeite als Dozentin für Komparatistik und Romanistik an der Universität Binghamton, Teil der staatlichen Universitäten des Staates New York (SUNY). Meine Forschungsinteressen konzentrieren sich vornehmlich auf Latein Amerika in der Kolonialzeit und das frühneuzeitliche Europa (mit Schwerpunkt auf den deutschsprachigen Bereich). Ich interessiere mich sehr für Reiseberichte und Landkarten aus dem 16. und 17. Jahrhundert.
